new sounds 2020 week 2A

This list will be updated every day with new sounds released this week till Sunday.

Kiki Montana featuring Laylow – “FaceTime”

Technology might have its own negatives but we need to appreciate the positives as well, being in a long-distance relationship can be so difficult but thanks to the evolving nature of technology lovers can communicate with each via FaceTime. Kiki Montana sings this song for his lover as the only means through which they can communicate. There’s a lot of us in this situation and all we have is FaceTime.

Celine Banza – “Na Mieli”

We take a trip to Congo as Celine thrills us with an amazing French love song talking and questioning all the promises her said lover made to her. People say so many things when they are in love and when they fall out of it, it’s a different story.

Khalia – “Easy”

Life has never been easy and will never be easy, Khalia makes it more understandable in beats and lyrics in her new song titled “Easy”.

Sista Afia – “Paper”

Everyone is working for the paper and by the paper, we mean money, who doesn’t want money? Whatever means through which you’re making money all you have to do is to make sure it’s a legit way, people will talk anyway but they have to talk about the right things. Sister Afia features Victor AD on her new song, “Paper”.

Kid Kwesi – “Pray”

Whatever it is you’re hoping to achieve in this world talent alone might not work as much as you expect it to. Kid Kwesi sings about alternative which when combined to talent and hard work will yield amazing results, so while you’re waiting for the world to be exposed to your art, pray and wait on it.

Unyx feat Joey B – “Who Dat”

Unyx features Joey B on her new single “Who Dat”. Using a verse from Wizkid’s “Roll It”, Unyx goes on a hunt for her type with Joey comes in with playful affirmations on the subject matter. What’s your type?

Flyo featuring Ms Banks – “Still the best”

Ms Banks is still out here proving to us that she’s one of the best female rappers to ever do it and that’s facts as she flexes her lyrical prowess on Flyo’s “Still The Best”.

kenxshin featuring Afropurps

Aquarius is the first instalment of a 12-month zodiac-themed playlist by Kenxshin. It will feature one artist for each month of that zodiac, so Aquarius represents January.

Aquarius is a collaboration between kenxshin and a Ghanaian boy band know as Afropurp, the band is made up of music acts: Odartei, DTM Nascar and Dessy Frydays.

“Meant To Be”, the first song and opener of the playlist talks about the trials of deep longing and wanting to be close to your significant other, it also talks about the difficulties of trying to understand each other’s opinion and moving along with their values and the things they like or love.

“Mercy” which is the second song on the playlist talks about the female femme fatale. Mercy talks about what every man goes through trying to get the girl of his dreams, some females are tough and are difficult to be impressed, mercy will tell you more.

L.I featuring Kwame Yesu & Mcray – “Oh Lord”

Oh Lord is what I’ll call a hustlers prayer or a hustler’s cry, a song that talks about hustling in the midst of bad vibes, negative energy, pulls downs and whatnot.  All you must focus on is your own dreams, nobody really cares what you do but to win or to lose, it’s all on you.

TAPES

JHus – “Big Conspiracy

After starving us musically for a very long time, J Hus has finally dropped his second album “Big Conspiracy”. J Hus’ ability to switch between different musical styles is one that he will always be commended for, from the afrobeat vibe that comes with “love, peace and prosperity” to the dancehall feature with Koffee and “play play” which features Burna Boy to the guitar inspired “helicopter”. The album generally speaks of the entire nature of J Hus, Hus thoughts what he has been through and where he finds himself at the moment, there’s so much to learn and love from this album, enjoy.
